Quick answer

Province has no golf course inside its gates. The Duke at Rancho El Dorado, a public, daily-fee, 18-hole, par-72 course designed by David Druzisky and opened in 2003, borders the community, and Province's resident golf club organizes play there. Inside Province, golf shows up as a putting group and a golf-cart culture, with many homes built with golf-cart garages.

The Duke at Rancho El Dorado

The Duke is the centerpiece course of the Rancho El Dorado master plan, at 42660 W. Rancho El Dorado Pkwy., Maricopa, AZ 85138, phone 480-844-1100. It is public and daily-fee, 18 holes, par 72, designed by David Druzisky and opened in 2003, with multiple tee sets from roughly 5,200 to 7,000 yards, a driving range, practice green, short-game area, club and cart rental, teaching professionals, and the Silver Spur Grill. The Santa Rosa Wash runs through the layout. Memberships are offered by the course; rates and terms are the course's and are not published here.

How residents use it

As public golfers or as members of the course, on the course's terms. The Province Golf Club, a resident group, organizes outings and league play. The course is outside the gates on the Rancho El Dorado side, so a round is a short drive or cart trip depending on the route and the course's cart policy.

Golf inside Province

Province was planned as a lake community, not a golf community, which is why the lakes are the landscape and the course is next door. Inside the gates there is a resident putting group and a golf-cart parade group, and golf carts are a normal way to get to the Village Center. Many Meritage homes and some Engle homes were built with golf-cart garages or extended bays; the plan catalog notes where. See the plan catalog.

What listings mean by golf

A Province listing that says "golf course community" or flags a golf course lot is describing The Duke next door, not a Province amenity; one MLS record carries a golf-course-lot flag in error. The correct description for a Province home is a lake community adjacent to a public course. The community overview is the Province community page, and the outdoor amenities that are inside the gates are on the lakes and trails.

Frequently asked questions

Does Province have a golf course?

No. Province is a lake community. The Duke at Rancho El Dorado, a public 18-hole course, borders it outside the gates, and residents play there as public golfers or members.

Is The Duke a private course?

No. It is public and daily-fee, with memberships offered by the course. Anyone can book a tee time.

Who designed The Duke?

David Druzisky. The course opened in 2003 as the centerpiece of the Rancho El Dorado master plan, par 72, with tees from roughly 5,200 to 7,000 yards.

Is there a golf club in Province?

Yes, a resident-led Province Golf Club that organizes play and outings, along with a putting group and a golf-cart parade group. These are resident groups, not a course.

Can I drive a golf cart in Province?

Golf carts are a common way residents move around inside the community, and many homes have golf-cart garages. Cart use on public streets is governed by Arizona and City of Maricopa rules, and course access by cart is governed by The Duke.
